2016 has not got off to a good start in the Delta this year. With incredibly low water levels, this has affected the Footsteps in Africa camps in the Delta, namely Delta Camp, Oddballs’ Enclave and Oddballs’ Camp. Although guests can now walk over to Chief’s Island rather than mokoro, the game sightings are phenomenal.

Chief’s Island lies on the western boundary of Moremi Game Reserve. An incredible variety of species cohabit this area from plants, animals, birds, insects and reptiles. Low nutrient levels mean that sheer numbers of different species are seen – few of Africa’s wilderness areas can boast the diversity the Okavango can. Our focus is on peace and tranquillity and guests are actively encouraged to visit the local village, home to the guides, and to interact with the people there.
